SECURITY

Dear Rebbetzin,
My daughter wishes to attend the Yeshiva this summer. I am concerned about the security in Gush especially in light of the current level of activity in the West Bank. I have some experience in the area especially since my son went through the Machal program in his Yeshiva and spent a year in the army.

Please give me some idea of how you are handling security in you area in light of the fact that I don't believe that you are a Hesder Yeshiva with many soldiers around?

Sincerely,

Dear (Name Withheld),

Thank you for contacting us directly regarding your daughter's possible enrolling in our program. I appreciate your concern about the security for your daughter. I cannot deny that the situation in Israel and in the world is unfortunately not the most secure. I can identify with your concern as my own son who is a soldier in Hesder is about to be transferred to Gaza. It is the most difficult thing to stand up for our belief to support Israel when it may seem to endanger our own children. I cannot guarantee you that there is nothing to worry about. However the Gush area seems B"H to be relatively safe. Statistically I believe the greater Tel Aviv area and Jerusalem have had more incidents, (may Hashem spare us). The fact that in Bat Ayin there are no Arab workers, and that there are strict prohibitions for Arabs to enter our premises, makes Bat Ayin one of the safest places in Israel. In addition, we have a very capable security officer who is in charge of security in Bat Ayin. He oversees the 24 hour around the clock guard duty which is carried out by the residents of Bat Ayin. They have regular training exercises. In addition, my husband, in his capacity as an emergency doctor, is called to meet with the medical personel in Bat Ayin, to assess our medical equipment and the medical staff procedures. In this way we are prepared if G-d forbid there should be any need.

Hope this answers your questions. Please feel free to inquire further.

Sincerely,
Chana Bracha Siegelbaum, Director, Midreshet B'erot Bat Ayin
