The B'erot Bat Ayin Performance Troupe
The teaching method at Midreshet
B'erot Bat Ayin encourages women to express themselves through creative
workshops and projects. Students glean from ancient texts themes
that are relevant to the dilemmas that women face today, and are
challenged to interweave their intellectual understanding of the
texts with creative expression such as movement & drama, art,
and music, fostering a personal connection and identification with
the role models of our heritage. Professional and experienced drama
and music directors facilitate this process.
The B'erot Bat Ayin Performance Troupe
empowers our talented students to bring their artistic contributions
to the center of Jewish life. The performances inspire both audience
and players, who represent a variety of Jewish backgrounds, to take
on leadership roles and promote fundamental change in the Jewish
community.
The primary message and themes
of the Midreshet B'erot Bat Ayin productions focus on women in the
Bible and Talmud such as Sarah, Ruth, Naomi, Devorah, Esther and
Bruria, who took initiative for the benefit of our entire nation.
By drawing on the student's own innate creativity, she discovers
within herself the same ethical qualities and leadership expressed
within the texts. Thereby, students naturally come to make positive
changes in their personal lives, including active decision making.

The one-act play Jonah was created
from intense textual study during the Elul semester, in conjunction
with the Torah Drama class, taught by a Troupe member. This creative
work enabled students to integrate Torah concepts while bringing
the texts to life. Furthermore, the drama production helped foster
unity while uncovering the hidden potential of each woman.

Original music was interwoven throughout
the skits, creating a delightful tapestry which educated and entertained.
These songs were created by students of Midreshet B'erot Bat Ayin.
