THE
MONTH OF AV
Anna Shinder, B'erot
Student
Today, as
we are going through the period of the Three Weeks and are
beginning the month of Av, the Jewish people are once again
experiencing the many challenges that are the result of
being in exile.
|
|
|
As a result,
our awareness and sensitivity as a Jewish nation is heightened
and we are made even more aware of the sad reality that
we are in great need of the long awaited period of redemption,
when we as a Jewish nation will have peace, spiritual strength,
unity, enlightenment. We will rejoice in the third Beit
Hamikdash together with our homeland Eretz Israel which
will become a source of light, strength, holiness and spiritual
inspiration to the entire world.
Fortunately,
however, our sages tell us that the events that we are experiencing
in today's world point to the fact that we are on the verge
of redemption. The hardships that we are facing in the world,
which seem to lack clarity and order, are in fact an important
part of Hashem's intricate design. These same challenges
that so greatly test our faith in Hashem and our spiritual
stamina are the birth pangs of Moshiach and at their essence
are meant to awaken our consciousness; to inspire our souls
and hearts to take action in bringing the final redemption
one step closer.
But how can we
do it? Where do we start? The beautiful solution is to start
with oneself. Transformation begins with the individual
becoming an admirable example to others. A chain reaction
occurs when others desire to emulate and follow that same
rewarding and deeply gratifying path. Faith, clarity and
action are the vital tools.

LONG JOURNEY: BIOGRAPHY OF NOA RINSMA
Anna Shinder, B'erot Student
"B'erot
has provided me with the unique opportunity to build and
embrace my Jewish identity by giving voice and expression
to my unique spiritual needs." - Noa Rinsma, Midreshet
B'erot Bat Ayin Alumna, 5766 / 2005-2006

Noa's
Hebrew name means "moving"- a name that deeply
reflects her nature. Native to Holland, Noa is a spiritual
seeker whose world-travels have taken her far-and-wide in
search of her unique spiritual expression and connection
to the Divine. She most relates to HaShem by listening to
music, appreciating nature, and engaging in in-depth Torah
studies. Spiritual and classical music, she says, provide
her with inspiration and new insights about life, as well
as enable her to meditate and to connect with her soul.
Noa also enjoys spending time with cats and horses, observing
their great elegance and strong sense of will.
Noa was drawn to Midreshet B'erot Bat Ayin for its warm
and accepting atmosphere that allows all students to tap
into, explore and develop their unique spiritual needs.
Additionally, she enjoyed taking advantage of B'erot's opportunities
for creative expression within a Jewish context through
classes such as Torah art, movement, singing, gardening
and herbal healing.
Noa believes that B'erot has provided her with a holistic
educational approach that incorporated classes designed
to engage the many aspects of her being: spiritual, emotional,
intellectual, artistic and physical. Furthermore, Noa feels
that attending classes that explore Jewish mysticism and
thought, and working the Land of Israel created within her
a sense of deep inner-harmony between her spiritual and
physical needs. Finally, she acknowledges the impact on
her inner-growth from learning outside the classroom, particularly
from interacting and studying with other female students.
After graduating from B'erot, Noa is looking forward to
making aliyah, and with Hashem's help, using the foundation
she gained at B'erot Bat Ayin to build her own Jewish family.
